How can S.T.A.R. Music
meet the special needs
of your child?

Private Personalized Planning Meeting

Prior to the first class, the speech-language pathologist meets with each parent and child to determine objectives to be targeted during the twelve-week session. Parents are given objective cards at the start of each class. These personalized cards outline what the parent can do at S.T.A.R. Music to facilitate his/her child's work on selected objectives. Suggestions for home practice are also given, allowing parents to have fun with their children throughout the week, as they target the selected objectives. Research continually states the benefit of children learning from their best teacher - a parent. S.T.A.R. Music is designed to support this ideal arrangement.

ALL children are encouraged to participate. Preverbal children, and those with limited communication repertoires, are provided with alternative means of communication (i.e. object selection, picture selection, sign language) to help foster language development. Parents have the opportunity to observe and incorporate the use of adaptive methods of empowering the children to communicate their desires.
